"HAWAI'I's LIVING LEGEND
Maybe once in a lifetime, you receive a privilege to meet a man that influences the rest of your life...such a man of honor is Stewart Medeiros. His home is tucked away neatly along the way around Oahu to the North Shore amongst a coastal tropical forest, a beach to die for, and spirit of Aloha that that you can see and feel. It abides at his home like a perpetual Hawai'ian Rainbow.

Riding along with Mike and Syl Kop of Hula Supply Center, and Iwalani Tseu, a grande dame of Hawai'ian Hula...we pulled into Stewart's driveway. He and his smile were waiting. As a photographer guest and of non-Hawai'ian heritage, I knew the honor it was to be allowed this photo shoot of his home and shop and his personal and sacred places....and very soon I understood the spiritual strength of his quiet yet majestic presence when Iwalani broke into a reverent chant for him. They hugged and cried....and I stood--humbled and speechless. I could not shoot for a while...I was nonored to be witness to a sacred and beautiful Hawai'ian moment ... thus began a day of wonders and treasures, of points of view, of gentleness, of lasting smiles, of good food shared, of warm embraces and fond memories in the air, and then a tour of the Master's shop where honor is lovingly carved from sacred Hawai'i woods.

When you view these pictures, I hope they somehow bring to you the feeling, and the greatness, and the gentleness, the love, and the beauty of this legend of a man...who in a short afternoon captured my heart until I am called back to the land. .. "May I call him friend...."
